Por los hijos de sus hijos…

Am Donnerstag war der Verkaufsstart der T-Shirts der Mi Sangre Stiftung, entworfen von July und Monica 🙂 Die Pressekonferenz war sehr gut besucht, sämtliche Tageszeitungen und Fernsehsender Kolumbiens waren anwesend und es scheint als verkaufen sich die T-Shirts wie warme Semmeln. Bisher kann man sie nur in Kolumbien kaufen, aber es gibt schon sehr viele Anfragen aus dem Ausland. Das freut uns alle sehr, nicht nur weil es die Designs von TrendyPose sind, sondern weil das ganze für einen guten Zweck ist. Die Website der Stiftung gibt es bislang leider nur auf Spanisch, aber wir arbeiten daran, dass es sie bald auch auf Englisch und Deutsch gibt. Deshalb werde ich kurz mal beschreiben worum es geht:

Die Stiftung wurde von Juanes ins Leben gerufen um den Opfern von Landminen in Kolumbien zu helfen und vor allem um die Weltöffentlichkeit auf die Problematik aufmerksam zu machen. Die Statistiken sind sehr traurig. Kolumbien hat die weltweit höchste Landminendichte, gefolgt von Afghanistan und Tschechenien. Allen voran das hiesige Antioquia. Laut Schätzungen sind 59% des gesamten Landes minenverseucht.

Kolumbien ist das einzige Land in Lateinamerika in dem Landminen systematisch angewandt werden um die Landbevölkerung zu vertreiben und die Coca Felder der Guerillas vor unerwünschtem Besuch zu schützen. Im Schnitt werden 3 Menschen pro Tag Opfer. Es betrifft fast ausschließlich die Zivilbevölkerung, meist Frauen und Kinder, und sämtliche Opfer leben unterhalb der Armutsgrenze.

Die Stiftung versucht die Landbevölkerung zu informieren, und den Opfern die soziale Re-integration zu ermöglichen. Falls jemand von euch gerade einen Euro zuviel in der Tasche hat, wisst ihr jetzt was ihr damit anfangen könnt 😉 Letzte Woche ist eine Spende von €1000 von einer Fangemeinde von Juanes aus Deutschland eingegangen – ihr glaubt nicht wie die sich gefreut haben. Das sind gute 3 Millionen Pesos, damit kann man hier unglaublich viel anfangen. Da ich niemanden zu beschenken habe dieses Weihnachten werde ich wohl auch meinen Beitrag leisten.

Thursday was the launch event of the T-Shirts that July and Monica designed for the Mi Sangre Foundation. There were plenty of people at the press conference including all of the national media and it seems as the shirts are selling well. So far they are only sold in Colombia, but there are many international requests already. We are very happy for that, not only because it is design by TrendyPose but because it serves a good purpose. So far, the site of the foundation is only in Spanish but we are working hard to have it in English and German soon. So, I will shortly describe what the foundation is all about:

It was founded by Juanes to help the victims of landmines in Colombia and to tell the world about the existing problems. The statistics are very sad. Colombia is the world’s most affected country by landmines, followed by Afganistan and Chechenia, Antioquia is the most affected department of all. It is estimated that 59% of the whole country are contaminated by landmines.

Colombia is the only Latin American country where landmines are used systematically to force the rural population to leave their homes or to keep uninvited guests away from the coca plantations of the guerilla. On average there are 3 victims per day, most of them civilians, pre-dominately women and children, and all of them live below the poverty line.

The foundation tries to educate the people and help the re-integration of the victims. So, if one of you happens to have an extra Dollar in their pockets, you know what to do 😉 And since I don’t have anyone to give gifts this Christmas, I will do my share.
